In the United States, we're hearing hype that our 3G is super fast and that the coming 4G will be even faster. The problem with our marketing is that the two technologies competing (LTE and WiMax) aren't full 4G technologies, because a 4G technology officially needs speeds of 100 Mbit/s for mobile devices. That said, the next iterations of LTE and WiMax, called LTE Advanced and WiMax 2 respectively, should be able to offer official 4G speeds.
